Alcohol - besides 'none', what's the best choice?

Heading out tonight and would like to figure out my best option - light beer, wine or a mixed drink made with diet soda?

Whats your drink of choice?

  • I would just look it up on MFP and find out what you might like and then compare. You might want to switch it up a bit. That is what i do... Skyy for drinks 90-100... Occasional tequila 69 cals. Cheers mate:drinker:

Beer is by far the biggest reason I ended up 51.5 lbs overweight in the first place. I haven't had a drop in 3 months... I rarely drink now but when I do it's vodka and diet tonic for me.

I would think the best though is to drink whatever destroys you the quickest (maybe shots of tequila)... so instead of nursing 5-6 drinks all night, you only have 3 shots and then you're too hammered to drink any more :D
  • vodka.. or any CLEAR liquor.. they're always the least caloric... or a low-cal beer like mgd 64. Wine has too much sugar! good luck!
  • I just had a rum with diet coke, (only 65 calories) Dunno if you like that or not though, I checked Coors Light, it's only 102 calories, just a thought :)
    Enjoy tonight either way!
    Cheers!

I love the skinny margarita, only 100 calories and they are starting to pop up as a choice at some bars and resteraunts now. You can also look up the recipe online, Bethany Frankel from the NY housewives has a great recipe.

Cool thanks! No wine, no beer unless light. Vodka & rum with diet soda sound like the best - I can make one of those last a long time!
  • Glad to hear that! :) Have a fun night! (but be careful!) :drinker:

Vodka, red wine, and light and/or gluten free beers.
  • Since diet soda's one of those questionable things, I'd go with a Bloody Mary. It's vodka (light liquor) and vegetable juice (lower in sugar content). Just watch out for your sodium intake. Bloody Mary mix is usually pretty high in sodium, but has a fair amount of Vitamin A and even a little protein. Make sure to add extra lime.

Well after Wednesday I don't have much room to talk. Normally....................I will have a beer if my daily allowance is not in jeopardy at all. Then I only have one. I have a 12 pack I bought 3 months ago and there are still 8 beers left.

You can have a gin (65 cals) and tonic (10 cals) with a twist of lemon/lime. Very little sodium to worry about and, if you order in a tall glass, you have something to sip on all night. Just make sure the bartender knows only ONE shot of gin as usually they'll pour two for a tall glass. You'll also probably be just fine to drive after sipping the same glass for several hours.
