Am I sedentary or lightly active?

I do a gym class 5 days a week. Normally this would include 15-20 minute warm up either on a treadmill or the eliptical trainer.

Then some weight training. We've done crunches, push ups, we do 45 reps using all the arm and Leg equipment (we do arms, legs and tummy on different days)

Then we warm down with another 15 minutes on a stationary bike.

Besides this class, I actively try to walk 4.5km at home. And that's all the activity I get in. Because I sit on my butt the rest of the day studying.

I have my calories set to 1500 to lose 0.5lb a week. I DO NOT eat exercise calories back. I'm 21, female, 5'2 and 129lb. Is this enough? Am I considered lightly active or sedentary with the above activity?

That sounds more like moderately to very active to me... 5 days a week exercising is quite active. Are you working on maintenance or losing?

I agree, if you're not going to eat back exercise calories, you should set it to moderately active or very active.

You can also google TDEE calculators and enter your stats in there to compare. Scooby has a good one (I don't have it bookmarked, though)

I'd like to lose about 2kg. Half pound a week. But I'm quite hungry since starting this class. mod. active? Are you sure? Remember that class and the little bit of walking extra at home is all I do for the day...on weekends I walk a bit further as we take a break from class. then I'd walk about 7.5km. I think this is some bikini bootcamp class if you'd like to Google.

    Thats a lot of activity!

At least an hour in the Gym 5 days a week and 3 miles of walking a day.. and you don't eat any of it back.

You need to up your calories methinks

Okay then I'll set mfp to mod. active. I was a bit confused, because I've just started this class in addition to walking.

I didn't want to take the cals. burned on the machines at the gym, because I know they can be wildly off. Hence me not eating back anything.

ETA : Nevermind setting mfp...I meant I will look up my tdee on mod. active setting.

Are you busting your *kitten* during these workouts or just going through the motions? No answer necessary here, you answer for yourself and that will tell you what to put.

How do you bust your *kitten* if walking? Now if I were to run or jog...yes...but I'd faint within 3 minutes  as for the cardio in my class. I do the best I can without trying to burn myself out within 5 minutes.

And the weights, because what little muscle I have is weak, they are quite streneous even at lower settings. But obviously they will be increased by my instructor over time as I adapt.

I bust my *kitten* when walking with my dogs all the time (they're huge so it's a lot of work and we go briskly for a couple of miles). Or if your walking in rough terrain etc.

So probably put moderate for now if you're not really going all out.
