how do you log different walking types?

Right now I have about 4 categories of walking:

- Walking around the office, flat and short distances
- Walking around the mall, flat and longer distances up to 2ish miles
- Walking around a golf course or jogging trail, not as flat and 2+ miles with some real sweat
- Hiking, moderate to strenuous trails, 4ish miles over 2-2:30 hours which just about kills me

For the first three I only log via what my fitbit counts, for the last I put in hiking: cross country through MFP and go by that. Is that generally how other person do it?
