Hey guys :)

I'm trying to figure out how many calories are in this recipe for slow cooked lamb shanks but I'm a bit confused on how to measure/weight the lamb because it has a bone in it , does anyone know how to acruately weigh/measure lamb shanks to work out how many calories are in them?

Thanks!

    Hey,

    That is a tricky one.

You will really have to pull off the meat from the bone after it cooked to weight it to have the correct amount.

I would prob estimate but thats what I normally do, for an accurate measure you will need to weigh the meat off the bone.

Weigh the meat with the bone before coking. After cooking cut the bone from the meat and weigh the bone. Subtract to get the calorie count of thee meat in the dish.

When I cook chicken quarters, I use the cooked weight entry and pop the quarter on a plate on the scale before I eat it, then put the remains back on the scale at the end.

Obviously a bit less accurate due to not being raw weight, but sometimes bone weight can change with cooking depending on the meat.

I weigh the meat with the bone in then weight the bone and anything remaining when I have finished eating then subtract the two and log the amount of lamb I have eaten
