Today I'm having a hard time not saying heck with it and just sitting down and eating, so how do you overcome the stress eating?

Hey... you're doing it RIGHT NOW!!!
You aren't eating, you've distracted yourself by getting online and asking for advice :flowerforyou:0 -
I like to do 25 crunches for each snack I have, and make sure I have lots of healthy snacks on hand, like cut up peppers, apples, rice crackers (not rice cakes ), etc. Good luck & stay strong!0

turn stress eating into stress exercising. its definitely healthier and it will help get your mind off of whatever's bothering you. just find some other outlet for the stress besides eating.0

I was going to say everything everyone else did! Exercise, get online, pick up a good book. I see from your profile page you have 32 birds? What kind? I had an African Gray for about 12 years.0

GO for a walk if you can - and drink tons of water to fill up your tummy0

Distraction, distraction and if that fails get someone to sew you into some mittens... put yourself somewhere else until it's time for a sensible meal. Being at home this weekend rather than at work has been difficult. I ran yesterday morning, cycled and hit the gym this morning just to avoid the snacks. My poor wife experienced grumpy Craig trying to avoid the cookies but on the plus side I did get a few jobs done around the house as long as they weren't in the kitchen0

Exercise won out, thanks all for your ideas and support, it helped a lot.
Craig772- I like the mitten idea and it's that time of year so it won't hurt to have warm hands:)
mem50- Ready... I have 19 macaws, 1 Cockatoo, 3 Quakers, 3 Amazons, 2 Budgies, 1 Conure, 2 Caiques and 1 Gray:)0 -
Exercise help me .. #1 it helps me de-stress and #2 cuts down the urge to therefore stress eat. The bonus = you BURN calories instead of consuming them.
win win situation0 -
I am a boredom eater. I will find something else to do to get my mind off of it or make myself work off whatever I take in that I shouldn't. you'll learn eventually if you give yourself consequences.0

I do this a lot too... and I tend to avoid working out, which is a real double whammy. The best thing to do is to just distract yourself. I'll watch something on Netflix or play a Wii game or log online and check out something I'm interested in. If I'm still craving a certain food an hour later, then I let myself have a little bit. I try not to overindulge if at all possible....
