Changing battery in scales, can it lie (weight one)

Hi,

Basically the battery for my scales died a week ago. So I ordered more of Ebay and they came today, so I plopped one in to weigh myself. It said I've lost 3 lbs! Which I find hard to believe because I'm eating 1500 cal's a day, hardly doing exercise because I'm unwell and yesterday due to my BPD+Depression I had a MASSIVE binge day. Ate two HUGE sharing packets of crisp, chocolate, fizzy, more chocolate and then chocolate doughnuts. Trust me, I tripled my calories yesterday! Yet I still lost weight?! Are the scales lying to me? - I turned them off, on and weighed myself several times because I've been struggling to get past 270 lbs for a while and now I'm 267.2 !!

Sam :noway:

The scales do not lie, that's a human trait.

If the battery was low the accuracy may have reduced and it's entirely possible that a fresh 1.5 volt cell gives a different reading to a flat cell at 1.1 volts, depending on the circuit design.

Get a second opinion from a friend's scale, pharmacy, doctor's office, gym or other scale.

I have one of them old dial ones.. lol if you know what I'm talking about and it's JUST over 19st which is the weight my digital scales say I am right now. So I 'd say it's correct. Now.. time to party with a glass of water :drinker: drinking loads today to kick the crap from yesterday :grumble:

cool, it's more likely to be accurate with the new battery than a flat one, so good news from ye olde mechanical scale.

I know, thank you for the fast response too :') saved me from going into paranoid mode with my BPD+Anxiety lol. I have both because I used to weigh myself on the old one, then got digital because it's easier for me. In such a good mood, even though I'm unwell going to go on my exercise bike in a bit :P
