Does walking in "toning" shoes burn more calories?

I started walking in a pair of toning shoes 2 days ago, and I'm wiped after my normal 3 miles. I wondered if they burn more calories as well as activating different muscles. Does anyone know?

Well, I went looking online for the answer. So far I can say, it depends on who you ask. Studies by the shoe makers show the shoes increase calories burned and work more muscles than standard shoes. Studies by fitness experts say they don't do either to any significant extent (but these studies only had 21 subjects who were young and physically fit to start with.) I guess I will go with my gut that says I'm working harder and thus burning more calories on the days I wear the toners.0
