I believe that everyone has a story as to why they are trying to loose weight. I would like to share mine, not for sympathy, but because I think it is good to get it all out.
These last 2 years have been difficult and stressful. First I lost my job June 2012, later that month my Dad died. So I took care of my Mom. In May 2013 I ran a race and fell and pulled myself out of the race. The extent of my injuries wouldn't be discovered until June. Mid May I was once again employed, then only a few days after signing my contract for work, my Mom passed away. My wonderful husband planned a trip with friends to Hawaii as he thought it would be good for me. My leg was still hurting, but I forgot about it because there was so much to do. In Hawaii we all went snorkeling and I notice every time I kicked I had sharp pains in my leg. So we are back home and I was thinning our apple tree and jumped off a three foot brick wall. When I landed I knew something had happened. I had shooting pains in my leg. Being that it was a Saturday and I didn't want to pay the extra for the ER, I waited until Monday to call my doctor. When I arrived he had already set up X-rays and an MRI. Yes my leg was broken and I tore the ACL and meniscus. I broke the tribal plateau. So I stayed off of it, not being able to stand on it for two months! It wasn't until late Sept. that I could power walk, and Oct. that I could start to run. My doctor said let's keep an eye on the ACL, which was good, because I was afraid of surgery. By Dec. it was apparent that my ACL needed to be replaced. Dec. 21 we scheduled surgery, I chickened out. I was so bad that even walking up and down a ramp hurt. My colleagues said that I needed the surgery and that they would cover for me. So Feb. 14 I had the surgery. Now it is the last of July and I am just starting to run again. It has been two years since I ran, and I have gained 15 pounds. I'm not sure what hurts more, my legs or my lungs. I also started boot camp in the evenings. I am hoping that between the two I will fit back in my clothes soon as I really don't want to spend money on new ones.

So join me in posting your story, and let's encourage one another on our quest for becoming healthy and fit!
