Running Apps

For those gadgety runners out there, I'm just re-entering the running world and would like some ideas on Apps that work for my IPhone, and run in background of my music, and maybe even tell me my pace. Particularly on those days I need to be motivated to move faster. I'd love free, but I'd pay for something worth it, and I don't really care about the GPS factor, I'm a creature of habit, so I run same few routes.

Google Runtastic or Runkeeper. Free and very good.

I use Runkeeper. It's free and works perfectly on my iPhone 5. You can set which alerts (pace, HR, distance, etc.) you want and how often you want to hear them. I haven't had any issues running it at the same time as Pandora or iTunes. You can also sync it with your HRM if you have one.

RunKeeper. If you install it, friend me there as well :) Just send me a message on mfp, ill tell ya my nickname
  • Ive used mapmyrun and Nike running in the past and really like them. I got a Garmin watch for my birthday so don't use them now, but both good. I particularly liked the Nike App is it gives you records and points when you get to a certain level... plus you can fill in about how you felt during the run afterwards which I found quiet useful,,,

Another suggestion for Runkeeper. I find that it's pretty accurate and I love when it lets me know I set a new record.

Never tried Runkeeper, but MapMyRun/MapMyFitness worked great. It will give you mileage and pace as well as logging the specific track you took. There is the ability to remember the way you took on a particular trail as well and log it (just in case you don't want to keep it running in the background).

I liked the ability to manually enter a track (around the neighborhood or whatnot) and figure out how far your run was.
