weight gain after a binge?

this was a "planned binge" for fun, which I hadn't done in 3 months, so its not a reason to worry about a binge eating problem. anyway, the few other time that I had done this, my weight would go up about 2-4 pounds the next day. but this time there seems to be a day delay, because I gained 2.5 pounds the second day after the binge. I've also noticed in the past months, that however I eat only shows in my weight on the second day and not the next day (I weigh myself everyday and write it in my calendar to keep track)
so I was just wondering if anyone knows why this has changed for me? or if anyone else also experiences the same thing?

After a binge it's possible that you retained water, causing the weight to go up for a short period of time. After getting more water in your body and getting back to your regular eating habit, it'll drop again and you'll go back to what you weighed before. It's completely normal and nothing to worry about.

I have been running marathons for the past couple of years and I'll call my binge eating "carb-loading". I have noticed some interesting weight gain patterns during the carb-load process. I think the key is that 1g of carbs get converted and stored in your muscles as glycogen with 3g of water. It takes around 12-36 hours for the digestion process to complete. Before my last marathon I gained 8lbs in 24hours and I weigh around 184lbs, that was a morning to morning weight before breakfast, so it was not right after drinking a bunch of water. I think what happens when you start a diet, is you first deplete the glycogen in your muscles, losing more weight than is reasonable (the I lost 5-10lbs in one week story you probably hear too often). Once you are on the diet for sometime (without cheating regularly) your glycogen will come back into balance. When you end the diet with a binge, you essentially carb load and gain lots of glycogen weight. If you want to experiment more, compare a carb binge to a protein/fat binge with the same amount of calories, you will be surprised at the difference in weight gain.

What I've discovered with my own weight loss, and weight gain, is that any change in weight only seems to comes days after unfortunately, and usually about 3/ 4 days in my own case.
