It's so hard for me to keep a streak going on here for longer than 5 days. How do people log in for 200+ days!? Tell me your secret! Well, I guess there's no secret to dedication and willpower. Did i just answer my own question? Lol

I am new to this, but I find that by honestly recording everything I eat I get a much better idea how much I am actually eating. I always thought that because I am eating a lot of fruits that I am not eating a lot of calories, but now I find that I have be very careful which fruits I am eating because they add up very quickly.
That explains to me why I was not losing in the past. I also can monitor which food gives me more energy and makes me feel better, so I think it is a very useful tool.0 -
You make it mandatory like brushing your teeth or going to work? I hate recording my calories but I know from my past that if I don't count I will gain? I'm on day 41 and it is getting easier.0

The phone app. Its convenient and can even send you alerts if you haven't logged for the day.0

This. I've been logging well over 400 days and I don't even think about it anymore to be honest. It's just part of my life.0 -
I've had long streaks despite not tracking. I keep MFP as my home page when I open Google Chrome. Helps to keep the streaks going. Having it pop up first thing reminds me to track. Plus keeps the motivation flowing better.0

You just do it. I had a 700+ streak and lost it. Now back to 110.0

915 days here~:drinker:
I had my ups and downs, just keep at it!!
If you really, really want to do this than you will do it and won't let anything get in your way!! Good luck. :flowerforyou:0 -
After a while it just becomes a habit, and you just do it!0

I have the phone app. MFP has become a part of my everyday life. It's just natural to me.0

Up until 20 or so days I was aware of it somehow, had to make a bit of an effort, but now it is an established part of my morning routine. It wouldn't kill me to lose the streak, though, because in the past I've been slightly obsessive about the number itself. Now it is about the logging, reading and socialising, which is much easier and healthier to keep in mind.0

Hi,
942 days here.
My phone is all I use. I think that works to my benefit.
I am stubborn too that might have something to do with it too.0 -
You just get in the habit. I don't log when I'm on vacation or really sick but that's not too often.0

This!!!!
eta: I meant to quote the person who said the phone app. It tells me if I haven't logged any food by 10 am. It's a nice reminder!0 -
If you add some good people to your FL you start to get curious what they're up to so it encourages you to log in.0
-
You just make yourself do it. Even when it's not pretty, I make myself put down every morsel.0

Yes, yes she is... ^ ^ ^. LoL0 -
bring the phone into the bathroom when you weigh yourself, or I always log my exercise calories while i am stretching it out at the end of my run. if you just log your weight or 1 thing for the entire day it still counts0

Hey so I just started with myfitnesspal, and initially I didn't log in all the time but now I have a support group and a coach that I'm accountable to. It really helps knowing that I need to log my info for others to see it. I would suggest maybe get a support team or a coach to help you stay accountable. I hope that helps!0

I weigh myself first thing in the morning every day and log my weight on MyFitnessPal. Then I go to pack my lunch and scan the barcodes for things as I put them in my lunch sac / weigh them.0

Add friends that keep you both entertained and informed, preferably like minded people. Don't add friends just to have a high friend count, but keep a list of people that you can relate with as well as become interested in and interact with.
Logging into MFP both on the phone app and as a tab open in my browser is just as much part of my day as is facebook and twitter. I may not always log my food or exercise, but I still log in because I'm interested in my friends. This keeps me up to date with whatever craziness they're posting in the forums and what shows up on my wall feed.0 -
This...I started with the computer and it's harder, but the phone app makes it much easier. I plan what I can eat by how much I got left!0

It just becomes a habit. I use it daily to log plus I have some awesome friends so it's nice to keep up with their posts.0

Is like a routine for me, I lost my streak when I went on vacation,0

Hi, I am new here but so far I love it. Before it seemed like the calories I ate didn't count or the exercises I didn't do wasn't really matter, however I was still slowly gaining. Now I am always aware of ever single calorie I eat and burn. Really great website and app.0

When I started I committed to a few simple changes:
Log all food on MFP (I tried a number of apps) and this one was the best
Wear a pedometer to track my activity
Weigh myself regularly (but not obsessively)
I'm not concerned with streaks (have lost them when I thought I'd logged in, and not lost them when I didn't think I had).
I decided that I would be happy with SLOW loss-no quick fixes-and this has been the best strategy. I have lost slowly, plateaued, gained a bit and then gotten back on track. I have given myself time-because I'm doing it for the long haul.
Recent upgrades to MFP have made it even better. The phone app keeps getting better, and I just discovered the recipe importer. These tools help keep me motivated.
The other motivation is that I'm a cheapskate. I'm losing weight and not paying money to any group.
I like the idea of using MFP as the home page on Google Chrome. I'm going to make that change today. Thanks everyone for all of the good ideas.
Good luck!0 -
I have the reminders turned on via the iPhone app. If I haven't logged breakfast before 11 am, I get a notification. Same thing if I haven't logged dinner by like 7 pm. I can be forgetful, so this is what keeps me accountable.0

Do it. Every day.0

I have the site open up automatically during my computer's start up sequence.0
