Gained 30 pounds in a month for no reason?

Ive been working out 5 times a week or more, focusing on my cardio for the entire time, working out for about an hour a day . I have cut my intake from about 2300 to 1200.. and ive been trying really hard and keeping at this. I occasionally go on long walks (4+ miles) and its only getting worse.. ive gained 30 pounds since the beginning of July.. im really scared and im so disappointed that ive actually been crying for a while... can anyone help..?

and no, I am not pregnant.. im 19 years old if that is any help..

Correct. We can't advise you. Talk to your parents/ pediatrician.

    Talk to your doctor.
  • I would say up the calories back up a bit from 1200 for sure, and add in some exercises with weights! I don't know why you would've gained weight in a month, but I do know that when I was gaining a lot quickly adding in lots of strength training helped me first stop gaining weight and then start losing again...

Original post says 16. OP edited it to say 19. Profile says 18.

    Talk to your parents.

With you being so young, I would talk with your doctor AND your parents about this.

Broken scales, a freakish tumor, or lies.
  • My profile was made by a health teacher my senior year. If it makes you happy, i can just delete me account and make a new one with correct information.

Okay. Did you just turn 18 and not update your profile? Hmm. . . trying to give you the benefit of the doubt and I hope you're not doing all this dieting stuff at 16 without parental/ medical supervision.

So, if you're 19, I'd still advise scheduling an appointment with your doctor because that's a huge amount of weight for one month and I"d be concerned something's wrong with such few calories, and so much exercise.

Your health teacher your senior year created the account in July, 2014?

Doesn't work that way. I just had a birthday and it updated my age automatically.

Australian? Aren't they in school in July? Edit to add: nope, she's using pounds and miles, and I don't think they do in Aus.

It's not impossible, but the phrasing implied that the senior year was in the past, IMO.
