Am I losing weight too fast?

I have lost 25 pounds in 27 days. My start weight was 289 I am 5'10". I start eating healthy 6 times a day staying under 1600 calories and doing Zumba 16 mins 4 times a day (thats all I can do right now). Am I losing to much weight too fast? Should I change something. I am trying to lose 100 pounds. Will be able to keep it off at this rate?

    Honestly, MFP gives you the option to lose at your own pace by providing caloric intakes for up to 2 pounds per week. I think the initial loss generally does come off faster. I wouldn't worry too much about it if you are staying hydrated and not feeling hungry. I would also consult your physician about it as well if you feel it could be unhealthy.

    I don't know how you ate before you started this. Once your body adjusts, the weight loss may slow down considerably. I still say if you are staying hydrated and eating healthy, not feeling starved, then keep on keepin on!

    It's more about how maintainable is the lifestyle that you are using right now? The thing with losing weight too quickly is that the lifestyle used to achieve that weight loss tends to be harder to maintain and you run out of steam and go back to your old habits. If what your doing right now allows you to meet all your nutrient requirements and is maintainable it's okay that you are losing so quickly. (when you go into maintence mode it won't be exactly like what your doing now, keep in mind)

    It's not necessarily too fast but may slow down. First, you may have dumped some water weight once you started eating healthier - less sodium, etc. Secondly as your body gets smaller, 1600 calories will be less of a deficit compared to your current weight. If any of these two things happens I wouldn't sweat it. You're doing great!

    Just be sure you're eating enough protein and if possibly research some weight bearing exercise to help you retain muscle mass as you lose weight, and ensure that you're losing as much fat as possible, rather than fat and muscle
  • Although I'm much shorter than you (5'4"), we lost about the same in a v similar time frame.
    But then I was the same weight for over a week, and where I was seeing a daily drop before, now it takes longer.
    Initially you lose a lot of water weight, so bear that in mind.
    Weight loss is a lot more about your diet over exercise. If you're eating plenty, getting your veggies and water in then no worries.
    I would suggest you switch up some of your cardio to basic strength training. This will help you maintain your muscle and reduce fat, which is good weight loss!
    There are some really good beginner guides on the internet, and youtube will help you a lot.
    But overall, keep an eye on the rate. It will slow down. For now, it's an expected rate, don't worry unduly.
