I made a shakshuka for breakfast, normally around the 280 mark depending on what veg I put in. I usually use Passata as it is low in calories and gives a rich tomato flavour! I didn't have any this morning and had to use tomato puree - IT WAS 100 CALORIES FOR 100G!! OMG, is just mental, whhy so high? and how come on WW and slimming world its free??

OK, rant over...

Shocking the calorie content of some of these products. Maybe use fresh crushed tomatoes next time? By the way, I love Shakshouka, it has been a long time since I had it, thanks for bringing this up, will do it tomorrow!

I used fresh tomatoes as well, but it needs a stronger flavour too, which real tomatoes don't do. The Passata normally works wonders... Moral of story, make sure you have all ingredients before starting to cook. Lol I could have a piece of dark chocolate for that 100calories

Tomato puree is concentrated, so is going to be more calorie-dense. To get the same effect as passata, you'll want to use a small amount of tomato puree and add the water back in. Both are just made of tomatoes.

I bulk it up with loads of spinach leaves, cabbage etc because those are relatively low calories and filling! always needs some chilli though!!!
