I often joke that when I lost the 260+ pound weight off my back (my ex-husband), I dropped 50 pounds in 3-6 months! I know it isn't easy to think of right now, but if this has been a stress and strain on your life, it could be for the best.

Just, if you do get divorced or remain separated, do not attempt to keep your child/children's life exactly the same - and do not put every ounce of energy into your child/children, as it will prevent you from healing and moving forward - and them, too. I speak from personal experience.

Making small changes as needed to accommodate the new lifestyle will help you all adjust together instead of setting up unrealistic expectations you can't possibly maintain, then breaking later, causing them twice the pain and healing. Also, your child/children deserve to be themselves. Don't make the mistakes I did and lean on them even though it seems like a good fit.

Above and beyond all that, keep channeling your emotions, you're on a great roll!! And those 30 pounds make such a difference. Keep doing this for you and your new life, regardless of whether the hubby comes back into it or not.

    Hugs.

Please read my profile, and send a friend request afterwards if you'd like. I completely understand the range of emotions that you're experiencing right now, and I'd love to be a source of support for you if you're open to that. Well done on going for a hike rather than turning to food for comfort - I totally get that too, and I'm proud of you for making that decision!

You not only look awesome, you ARE awesome! Way to go on this huge accomplishment!

I started my first weight loss journey a few years ago, and had lost about 25 pounds when I hit a very rough patch in my marriage. There was something about being healthier than I had been a few months earlier, the rough time increased my motivation and I felt strong and powerful. Where I would have been a wreck had it transpired prior to starting to lose weight, I felt empowered and like I could get through anything. I went on to lose another 20 lbs after that prior to hitting maintenance.

YOU ARE STRONG AND POWERFUL, remember that! Congratulations again on your 30 lb weight loss~

Wow! YOu are looking sooo good. YOu keep going.. you have control over your body and health..but not over another person..like your husband.

I applaud you for letting that bad news motivate you in a positive way. It is amazing how losing weight makes a person take charge of their life in other areas of life beyiond the scale.

Good things are in the cards for you… Keep going strong. :flowerforyou:

Wow, what a story. I am so happy for you and at the same time filled with sympathy. Your reaction to this is amazing. I am an emotional eater as well and I must say your strength is inspiring. I hope you never give up on your dreams! Be proud of yourself and remember only you define who you are, no one else.

You're doing great! 30 pounds is nothing to sneeze at!

Regarding the OTHER matter. This is going to be a very long and emotional road for you. Hopefully you'll be able to use your health goals and habits as a guide on the journey ahead.

Been there, kid. I have 1 more year of paying HIM spousal support. We were married for 15 years. He decided to give up on life and stopped working. He expected me to support him and cook and clean and everything else, while giving nothing in return. Literally nothing. I can't believe I stayed on as long as I did. But we all get to a tipping point on our own. I filed for divorce and moved out of our house 4 years ago. I am SO happy! He finally got himself together enough to find a job. Part time, but it helped me get the court to lower the support I was paying. Like I said, one more year! Hurrah!!!

Just take care of YOU and screw him! He doesn't deserve you! (even though I don't know you! LOL!)

First and foremost, congratulations on achieving a 30 lb. weight loss. I'm sure you worked hard on it. Secondly, good choice to hike instead of binge. Lastly, I never like to hear that a marriage is over, but every couple is unique and if in the long run, you are happy, then the end of your marriage is perhaps the beginning of a new and better chapter in your life.

I hope you find the support you and your family need to get through this until you see the other side of it.

Thank you for sharing your success and your story.

    Best of luck!

Congratulations on your weight loss, and the decision to go for a hike rather than comfort yourself with food! That's really a milestone in this emotional time. It really shows your self control, clear minded commitment to a heather you! Your children will be so happy with these changes you've made!

I am sorry to read of your separation, but proud of you for not letting it become an excuse or derail your progress. Celebrate how far you've come and keep focused on your goals. I do hope there is a light at the end of this tunnel for your relationship, but you taking control of you is excellent! WTG!!

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH! You have no idea how much all your kind words of support have cheered me up and kept me motivated today.

A special thank you to all of you who shared your own stories with me. Hearing that others have been where I am now and have come out the other side stronger and happier has given me a new perspective. Sometimes it's hard to see clearly when you're right in the thick of things, but hearing that things do get better from people who have done it themselves makes all the difference.

My children are a huge source of inspiration for me - both in my weight loss journey and in life in general.

Again, THANK YOU to this entire community. I feel so supported and grateful to each of you.
  • You look really happy - and you you look FAB! Well done! Thanks for sharing :-)
