BMR vs. Body Comp

I thought this was interesting so I figured I'd share.
I've had my body comp tested twice in the last month (it was a gym challenge, I would have preferred more time between each weigh-in/test). We did the hydrostatic body comp test. The first time was tough. I wasn't a big fan of feeling like I was drowning. The second time was a lot easier when I knew what to expect.
Anyway, point of this post is that if I do the calculations for my BMR I come up with around 1480. That is NET calories, of course.
After doing my body comp test, the numbers showed that my BMR is actually around 1900. That's a difference of at least 400 calories!
As for the accuracy, I was skeptical because I had a lot of water weight from Thanksgiving feasting and thought that since I weighed more on the scale, my body fat % would be affected by that number. It wasn't. I'm pretty impressed by the accuracy of this test. As of today I've dropped all of that weight (tested last night) and dropped 0.5% body fat in 4 weeks.
Just thought I'd remark on how much of a difference an accurate body composition test can make on your nutrition/weight-loss goals.

Body comp is what it's all about, not weight loss. Hydrostatic is one of the more accurate ways of checking BF along with the Bod Pod & DEXA scans.
Congrats on your continued success!0
