Wrinkly Butt

I have lost 35 pounds over the last 8 months and even though my butt got a lot smaller (which is great) I noticed that now I have some wrinkles at the bottom of my butt. How can I get rid of that? Is it excess skin, or fat, or what? Does that happen to anybody who loses a lot of weight, or does it have to do with age (I am 50)? Thanks for any input ;-)

    Maybe they have always been there you just couldnt see them before you lost weight? :wink: joking!

    ive read on here before people suggested squats .. its not a problem i have had ..yet... i was looking for future reference:tongue:

    You have to fill it in with muscle....squats, squats, squats.....and then more squats! :smile:

    Thanks for the advice. Luckily, I love squats (started weight training in january 2014), so I guess, I just have to keep doing them regularly and be patient ;-)

    I have these as well. They are starting to go away now. I think it's just a phenomena where you're losing weight faster than your skin can catch up with so it creates dimples. These will even out as your skin catches up with your fat. If they get REALLY deep you might wanna slow the weight loss down a bit. But a bit of wrinklies should pass. Especially if you exercise and eat a nutritious diet.

    As might be expected from my user picture, I recommend skating to improve butt issues. Ice, inline, or quads. They all do great things for the glutes on down.

    Swimming seems to be working umm ... swimmingly for me too XD.

    WBB55, what a great idea to try skating! I live in a cold climate where it's winter for about 8 months/year, so plenty of opportunity to skate. Can't wait for winter to start now ;-)
  • If it is skin you might try dry brushing. You should be able to find a youtube video with instructions if you''re not familiar with it.
    Not saying it's a miracle cure but it might help tighten the skin a bit.

    Hey brewinggirl_b, another great tip, thanks! I've heard about dry brushing before when I researched the macrobiotic diet. I am very motivated to get rid of these nasty wrinkles, so I'll give it a try. I guess the key is consistency?!
  • Yes you have to be consistent. The thing about it is that even if it doesn't "fix" that issue, it's great for your skin (if it's dry) and really invigorating in the morning. I'm skeptical about all the other benefits it supposedly has but since it feels good and makes my skin look good, I do it.
    I do think it's helped with reducing how my stretch marks appear but I'm sure it's just related to the consistent exfoliation.
