How often should I update my calorie intake goal?

I have lost 17 pounds so far. My calorie goal has been 1610. How often should I update my calorie goal? After 10 pounds, 20 pounds, or should I just wait until I hit a plateau?

I update every time I reach a new low weight.
I think the default is every 10 pounds.0 -
I do mine every 5lbs0

If you are using MFP goals you should go in and adjust our weekly weight loss goals based on this
If you have 75+ lbs to lose 2 lbs/week is ideal
If you have 40-75 lbs to lose 1.5 lbs/week is ideal
If you have 25-40 lbs to lose 1 lbs/week is ideal
If you have 15 -25 lbs to lose 0.5 to 1.0 lbs/week is ideal
If you have less than 15 lbs to lose 0.5 lbs/week is ideal
And MFP will adjust your daily calories based on that...not weight lost.
If you use TDEE about every 10lbs based on your new TDEE.0 -
I must be OCD! Every Monday morning, I weigh and take measurements, then recalculate my BFP, BMR & TDEE. Not that anything has changed all that much, but I like doing the math!0

In order to target 2 pounds per week, for example, you're going to need to adjust your calories down as your body weight goes down.0 -
I don't have advice on this but am watching the responses carefully.
Maybe I'm unsophisticated about this, because I wasn't planning to change my targets frequently.
What I'm doing now is losing at 2 lbs/week. I'm figuring on just continuing the same until it doesn't work (plateau), or until I hit target, whichever comes first.
I expect over time the lbs/week will drop on its own as I approach target weight.
I'm more inclined to change exercise levels than food targets, though. Don't know if an adjust-exercise-first bias would help the OP or not.0 -
I do it every Monday after weighing myself. So I update my weight then reset my calorie goal.
I think it reduces about 10cals a pound so far.0
