injured and needing help!

Hey,

I was going at this so well! I had lost 14lbs and was kicking *kitten*, I went away on vacation and only "gained" 4lbs which I mostly attributed to water. HOWEVER on my vacation I was climbing a mountain and fell down and tore my tibio-fibular ligament and smashed my sciatic nerve. Since being home I've gained another 6lbs, not surprisingly, as I'm on crutches and in quite a bit of pain so I had just been lying around and eating yummy things that people brought me to cheer up.

I mean 10lbs isn't the end of the world, but I've un-done most of my progress in 2.5 weeks. The main problem is I'm eating too much because I'm used to exercising 5-6 times per week for 1-2 hours each time. And now that I'm not doing that I'm struggling to be motivated to eat right.

I really need help! I'm going back to exercising but I have to go so slow it won't be the same in terms of calories burned for while.

So sorry to hear about your injury! I know how you feel. It seems like any time I got into a good groove, I'd end up doing something like spraining my ankle. If it's any consolation, getting around on those crutches is a workout in itself. LOL I had to get creative with my workouts for awhile. I actually bought one of those balance ball chairs and did "zumba" and "kickboxing" (minus most of the kicking LOL) while sitting on the ball. I also did Pilates and kept up with my upper body training. The important thing is not to push too much too quickly, and make sure your body gets the nutrients it needs to heal!! I wish you a quick recovery!!

I made playlists on youtube of zumba clips and put it on shuffle. I'd sit on the exercise ball and just move my feet to TRY to match the rhythm, and do the upper body movements. It probably looked ridiculous, but it at least got my heart rate elevated above resting.

You can also find a ton of Pilates videos on YouTube. It's become my go-to source for home workouts.
