Putting a whole egg into oatmeal?

I know people put egg whites into their oatmeal, but is it okay if i put a whole egg in it. My plan being that the egg is cooked using a microwave while its in oatmeal. Does anyone else do this?

I use peanut butter in my oatmeal. Hey, try it with the whole egg & see if you like. Just remember there is a lot of cholesterol in the egg yolk. I have ate scrambled egg & Grits together, but never heard of egg in oatmeal. I'm originally from MD. So I know its not a Yankee thang & I live in Ga, so not a southern thang either... LOL Let me know how it tastes.

I put a whole egg in mine quite often... cook it in the microwave. oats, 1 egg, bit of brown sugar and a handful of blueberries.

    yum.
  • I don't see anything wrong with it. It's good to eat a yolk now and again as it helps increase Leptin levels (the chemical that helps us feel full).
  • Yes! This is my method:

Pour the oatmeal in a bowl, add the water and crack the egg right on top. Microwave for about a minute, stir to break up the egg, then microwave until the egg is cooked (about another 45 seconds). Top with blueberries. Delicious!

Hmmm, as I have been having my oatmeal with blueberries and chia, and a hard boiled egg on the side, I think I may now have to try this. Thanks for the directions!

just remember to break the yolk or you could have a huge mess in your microwave.
