Hello to those using a heartrate meter and anyone else in the know: how many calories are you burning while swimming over which distance and which time, and what is your weight? I'm trying to enter good estimates here, but every website is telling me something different.

I'd be interested to know this too! I do not have a HRM...awaiting one from Santa!
(I know...I'm 47, just skint all the time!)
I think MFP definitely overestimates exercise cals burnt for swimming..and I'm definitely slower than others I see swimming alongside me!!

I have used the heart rate monitor a couple of times when I swim, usually I swim 2000 yards or so in 45-50 minutes. I don't remember the actual calorie burn, but the heart rate monitor was actually higher than what MFP gave me. It's been a while since I have used the heart rate monitor though.

Not sure but I march while in the pool with my daughter. If I keep up a good pace I only take around half of the time/calories of water jogging on mfp. Not eating back though.

I can only swim slowly at the moment and have the feeling that MFP overestimates the calories big time. For 20 minutes of breaststroke it gives me at least twice as much as some other website where I also have to enter the swimming style and distance.
