What does stress do to your progress?

Do you lose weight or gain weight with stress?

I've been struggling with a lot of stress lately...

It seems a lot of people gain weight when they stress out, but I don't know if that is because they eat their stress or if it's something internally.

I personally have been losing weight at an alarming weight, but this isn't a shock for me. I often lose weight with stress.
Not only does the stress suppress my appetite, but it messes with every other aspect of my well-being.

I've now lost 14 pounds in the last 3 weeks. I'm nearly at my goal weight, but I know this can't be good. I'm eating 3 meals per day instead of my usual 5 or 6 and I'm still exercising a fair amount.

Also, I'm short on active friends so please send me a FR if you feel compelled :)

Stress I eat my worries away... upset or depressed I just lose my appetite completely. I had an icky break up about a month ago and lost 7 lbs in a week. I was literally midmeal and he sent me the bad news via text. I threw away my food and didn't eat for about 3 days lol

I was just wondering this last night as I was having a fight with my ex? boyfriend. My heartbeat was banging in my chest and it I had my HRM on it probably would of said I burned some calories. Usually I calm and sooth with food but I didn't last night. I did lose .6 lbs but that isn't out of the ordinary. When I was in my final year of college and stressed for a long period of time I gained alot of weight.

I wish I was one of those that lost weight when I'm stressed like you, at least there would be one good thing that came from it. lol

    EAT!
I've gone both ways on the stress and eating. I found when I lost so much so quickly (that was a very icky time in my life) I ended up gaining it back..
    FR sent.

With the weight loss I'm seeing muscle emerge and I'm having more energy. I don't feel like there is anything wrong per se, but the quick drop when I've been struggling for so long just caught me off guard. When my stress levels out, I will definitely see a doctor (if it continues to drop).

I don't eat much when I stress. My coworkers currently have a rule I'm not allowed to go home without eating something which will likely continue being enforced until I finish my degree program. So I have a nasty habit of dropping weight.

I lose like crazy when I'm stressed or anxious. I'm not a stress-eater. I'm quite the opposite. When I'm stressed, I can go without eating for extended periods of time. When my dad got sick, I dropped 10 pounds in a week because I stopped eating. After he passed away, I lost another 5. My husband had to tell me to eat, which was extremely hard for me because I had no appetite and the thought of food made me feel queasy. I really have no advice because I still haven't figured out how to eat more when I'm super stressed :ohwell:

I wish stress made me lose my appetite, id never have to diet again lol. I want comfort food for me thats sweets, then something crunchy salty ,then sweet again. I had to have my 11 year old boxer Georgia put down because of cancer mon. All weekend i binged and didnt workout for 3 days. Went back to gym last nite and took a fun body step class then an hit class, it wiped me out but i needed it. I have only lost my appetite once in my life and that was last fall for about a week, i was having some medical test done, i lost 6 pounds in a week and was convinced i was dying. All turned out well and i gained 4 pounds of it back pretty quick.

Stress is my worst downfall. If I had no stress, I know I would be 45 pounds lighter, happier and far more productive with fitness and with life.

That said, who is STRESS FREE????

Stress brings me to a screeching halt and sadly, sends me 3 steps back sometimes... Thank you for posting this topic.

After reading the posts, I think there is a big difference between stress and the big guys (divorce, losing someone, getting awful news like cancer, or losing a baby, etc.)

Those things don't cause "stress" in my opinion, it's something larger than stress. Usually in those cases, some ppl tend not to eat much, but if it lasts a long time and it was something you feel was larger than you, do ask for help.
