New kid on the block...

Hi all
First day on the site I'm 50 now but up until my 42nd birthday I was always skinny, max 172 lbs which is ok for my height of over 5'8 and my bone density (I wore a US size 8 with that weight). Then I started gaining weight like crazy, losing hair and just feeling like crap most days.
I wasn't even diagnosed with Hashimoto's Morbus (hypothyroidism and auto-immune) until 5 years later, which means by then I had gained over 50 lbs and I was just so depressed. The ultrasound returned non-specific nodules in both sides and they keep growing still. With the meds it's manageable though.
I've started my weight loss attempt on July 20th of this year by resolving to add more veggies and fruit to my diet regularly. No time for exercise (very demanding job with lots of overtime) but I have managed to lose 8 pounds up until now. What have I done? I replaced my breakfast with a veg/fruit smoothie with a newly acquired NutriBullet. Eating more nuts and seeds and watching my animal proteins. I feel great and am (so far) ok and confident I can reach my target of getting rid of these pesky 60 pounds by Christmas.
I have a piece of software that I use religiously every single day for every morsel that I eat. It's called CalorieKing. It does the job for me. The algorithm there suggest I reduce my calories to 1650 per day whereas this site says 1300. There is no way I can exist on 1300 calories! lol I'm sticking to the 1600 as it seems to work.
Like I said, I'm new to the forum so looking for weight loss buddies in the same boat as me.
I've replaced most chemical products in my life starting about six months ago, as I want to live a healthier life all around. No more high priced creams and cleansers for my face and hair, nothing. I make all my own skincare at home. My face and body has been grateful
