Why Buy Prepackaged Foods?

By weight, prepackaged food costs almost three times as much as unprocessed food.

If you spend $1 on prepackaged food, you could buy the same amount of food (by weight) for 35 cents if you are willing to buy unprocessed food.

    It depends on what's more important to you - your time or money.

    I typically buy prepackaged foods if they taste better than I can (quickly) make on my own. Like cous cous. If I bought all the ingredients separately to make my own cous cous with pine nuts and the seasonings - it would cost way more than the 3 dollar box, and the pine nuts might go stale before I was craving them again.
