Hello everyone!

Hi guys! My name's Heather. I have 1 fiancé, 3 kids, 2 dogs, 2 turtles, some fish, a kitten and foster puppies from a local rescue. I haven't really planned my meals before, or made exercise a priority like I should have, but I'm changing all that. I'm 236 pounds as of Tuesday, and would like to be 135 pounds. The past 2 weeks, I finally came to a few realizations about myself.

1. I have no others friends (save maybe 2) that workout, or even worry about eating healthy food. As a firm believer that we become like who and what we surround ourselves with, this is a problem. It's also why I'm on the forum, to get to know like-minded people. :)

2. I have decades of bad habits and thinking to change. For the first time, I'm not looking at this journey as a weight-loss goal (though that is a definite goal of mine). It's a life-style makeover. I've heard "it's a life-style change" so many times it's lost it's meaning for me, but it's really sunk in recently. I am having to retrain myself, and start doing things differently. Not so dramatically different that it's like trying to live someone else's life, but I've done a few things, like planning our meal out for 2 weeks in advance, and sticking to it. I also started scheduling when I will work out (and doing it). It's been easier to change in smaller increments. I know there's more to be done, but at least I began to make changes.

I've had Insanity dvd's gathering dust, so I've been using them (finally). I have yet to get through a workout all the way, but I push myself to do as much as I can without throwing up, or passing out. I workout for at least 20 minutes, and I make sure I'm working so hard that I can't talk during my work out. It's not pretty, but it's a start! I wanted to say hi and introduce myself, so hi!

    Hi Heather,
Joining MFP and finding people who are trying to change has helped me a lot over the last two years. I think deciding to change my lifestyle versus dieting is key to losing weight and keeping it off. Feel free to add me as a friend!
