Good swimming routine?

So I will be able to return to working out in about 1-2 weeks, but will be limited to walking and swimming - had back surgery. I havent really swam since I was in 9th/10th grade(in uni now). Is there a routine someone could suggest that would be good calorie burning?

I dont want to just swim laps up and down but if theere is no other option that is what I will do. Free style and breast stroke with frog kick I feel would be good swim styles but other than that not sure where to start.

Try looking up some training websites for triathlon and other such events to get an idea of training that can build gradually. If you like/can open water swims to get yourself used to different environment than the pool. Plus, it can be scary/exciting to swim in open water. always have a buddy though

Here is my swim routine I do 3 to 4 days a week.

30 minutes of lap, front crawl only for cardio. I try to hit 1/2 mile in this time limit.
When I started last October I could swim ONE length. Now I can do a mile.

60 minutes of resistant exercise in the deep end. I use buoyancy things- around my ankles and waist and use floating barbells.

30 minutes of knee and leg strengthening in the shallow pool. Deep knee bends, squats and lunges.

    10 minutes of stretching.

Check out You Tube for great videos of all types of pool exercises...great resource.
