Trying to look at it as a lifestyle...

Hi everyone! My name is Meg, I joined a few weeks ago and as of this morning, I’m down 7lbs, whoot! I’m really trying to make this a lifestyle change rather than a “diet” this time around. Something clicked the other week when I realized if I was hungry, I can eat, I just have to exercise to make up for it. Don’t ask me why has taken me 32 years to figure that one out! :-)
I’ve been reading the boards and especially enjoying the success stories. One day I’d like to be there too! My highest weight back in 2001 was over 300 lbs (304 to be exact), lowest 167. So I’m a lot better off now than I was in 2001, but I’d like to get back to where I felt “good”. My goal right now is to be 185, that’s 12 lbs less than I was on my wedding day. Then once I hit that, I’ll go from there! Right now I've set my goals at 1.5 lbs a week loss.
I’m 32, married (a little over two years), no kids, two dogs (a pug and a shih tzu/lhasa apso mix—both rescues). I’m hoping to meet some friends along the way in my journey (feel free to add me, that would be great!)! I have to try and see if there is a group I can join on the boards…I always seem to find them partway through whatever they are doing, lol!
Well, that’s all for now! I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

Welcome and good luck to you!
Making a lifestyle change has been key for me! If you decide to "temporarily" give up foods that you love to drop some weight, then chances are, you will just gain the weight back when you start eating them again. Learn how to portion control and incorporate foods you love into your diet.. making healthy choices most of the time, and what happens "sometimes" isn't going to do much damage. I'm finding that even when I indulge now, I can't eat as much as I used to. I still did ate pretty hefty at Thanksgiving dinner, but nowhere near what I normally would have!0
