I've had calluses for the last year of lifting. Never really did anything with them and they never bothered me until this week when I tore one during deadlifts. Holy hell that hurts. I'm just taping it now while lifting until it heals. Now I am realizing they probably need to be taken better care of. A trainer mentioned a pumice stone and a heavy moisturizing gel like you would use on your feet. Any other suggestions?
My grip is good, I have watched videos on how to improve it, but during deads and pull-ups I still always get them. I also don't want to use gloves. Does chalk help?

mine get pinchy so I try to keep them filed down- using a rough bar- and pulling regularly seems to make a difference too.
That's pretty much you're best options- pumice stone and moisturize. don't let them get so big they get pinchy- because that's when they rip!
Good luck and good job on all the hard work!0
