The non-regular Weigh In Day?

Wanted to share something I've been trying for about a month, The non-specific Weigh-in Day. It started after a friend send me this: http://shaunaharrison.com/weight-nothin-but-number/ and I realized my focus on that number might be what was holding me back.
So I've weened myself off of the strict "Weigh-In Day" cycle. I found I was too focused on *that* number on *that* day in *that* moment and it wasn't helping my psyche.
I found myself making poor choices (not drinking enough water, starving myself unnecessarily the day before weigh in, etc.) just to get my "best" weight the next morning.
For me, it was an unhealthy cycle, and I felt it was a bit precipitous given my nature.
So now I grab an "official" weight every 7-10 days when I feel like it's right. This way I'm less focused on whether I'm hydrated enough, or dehydrated, or making a choice based solely on whether I am weighing in the following morning. I still get on the scale every day to monitor how things are going. My body fluctuates a lot so now I don't freak over the little ups and downs as much. I know that at some point I'll see a number I really like that I'll know is an honest number (because I've been eating and drinking properly) and I'll record it in my app.
So far it's worked for me, as I've finally broken through a long plateau. I also feel like it's going to help me stay less focused on "The Number" and more focused on just making good, healthy choices every single day.
Does anyone else do this? Thoughts?

I do this as well. I've found that if I feel good on a day and know I've been fueling my body well and drinking enough H20 that even if the number I see isn't what I want I'll brush it off better and be motivated by other things or to simply beat it the next time. When I was trying to weigh weekly once on specific day/time I was finding I would get down about maybe blowing salt intake over a weekend or like you, not drink enough water before weighing (horrible combination). As well if I saw a plateau or increase from water retention or what not I would be disheartened and it would keep me feeling blue the rest of the day.
I now weigh periodically, probably still about once a week, I am still seeing a decline in weight even if it isn't linear and I am much less stressed about it, to be honest I do think it is much healthier mentally.0
