Where have the calories gone?

It's a silly question but why are there calories in cucumbers, but many pickles, & relishes I've seen are labled as not having any calories? Where did they go?

If it is less then 5 calories per serving, then they are allowed to say it has zero calories.
I bought a pickle in a squeeze bag (1 whole dill pickle) that you rip the plastic top off of and drain the juice out. It said it was 0 calories per serving... but the serving was 1/5 of the whole pickle. So I logged the whole thing as 25 calories (up to 5 calories x 5 servings) just to be safe.0 -
If a serving has less than 5 calories then manufacturers are allowed to put 0 calories on the nutrition label. The calories are still there, they just tweak their serving sizes until they get small enough to label them as 0 calories.
ETA: And I type too slowly...0 -
Foods low in calories such as cucumbers (and that is what they make pickles out of) are so low in calories, that a serving size is below what food manufacturers are required to report.0

Because the FDA is a sneaky mistress who likes to screw you over if you don't look lol. There are like 3-4 calories per small pickle, it's such a small value though you shouldn't worry, it's the sodium that is crazy high.0
