HRM that links to watch, phone and gym equipment

Hi,

As a reward for dropping 100 lbs, I'm going to treat myself to a heart rate monitor. My ideal HRM would sync to three devices:
- wrist display, such as Polar FT7
- smartphone (Android now, iOS possibly later)
- gym elliptical (Precor brand)

The H7 seems to do all of the above, but all of the watches seem to come with an HRM already, e.g. the FT4 comes with the H1 HRM.

Am I missing something? Is anyone doing what I'm after, whether with Polar or another make?

Many thanks!

I have the H7 smart Bluetooth HRM and it pairs up with the Polar Loop wrist band, it also pairs up tons of apps on my Android and on my iPod as well. I've never tried it with any of the gym equipment though, didn't know that was a possibility. I see a trip to the gym in my near future to try it out :-)

    Good Luck!

** I don't know if the deal is still active, but I bought both of mine from Clever Training and used coupon code DCR10WHP for an additional 10% off :-)

    Hi! Congrats on your success!

I've got the FT7 and the H7. The H7 doesn't need the wrist watch, and it's currently my preferred HRM. Also, the H7 links directly to an online (free) account to sync your workout log, when you sign into the phone app. The FT7 would need an adapter (not free). Another reason that I currently prefer the H7, is that I only need to replace one batterie. With the FT7, you would have to replace the one in the wrist watch and in the sensor, if you use it a lot. I use mine almost every day, and I go through quite a few batteries, because every time they get low, the sensor loses the signal.

what a great reward for your hard work, and congrats on your achievement!

i have the H7 and i use it with my polar FT1 watch simultaneously with apps on my samsung S4 phone like endomondo and map my fitness (i really like it with endomondo). it should work with a lot of gym equipment, as well.

I hadn't looked the loop at all, so I didn't realize it would pair to the HRM. I'll have to check on that.

So, if you have the FT7 and the H7, does that mean you have an H1 as well, from the FT7 package?
I'm thinking I may just start with the H7, and then if I want a wrist display, add one later (could ask for it as a Christmas present.

Thank for that. I'm thinking I'll start with an H7, link it to my phone or the gym equipment, and if I still want a watch, just get that later.

I bought the FT7 (wrist watch and Polar wear link sensor/strap, generous store coupon from a local sporting goods store...) first, and I got the H7 for Valentines Day from someone who didn't pay attention when I said 'I already have one...'
Now I like the H7 better, because the wrist watch got in the way of some of my lifts/moves. I also like the fact that the H7 uses the iPhone GPS, which has been pretty precise.

Polar has confirmed that they don't (presently) sell the H7 monitor with a watch, but that it will link with any of the FT models.

I'll see how I get on with the H7 (ordered yesterday, due to arrive later this week) sync'd to the phone and the gym kit. If I want a watch later, I can pick one up ... or ask for it as a Christmas present.

Thanks to all for the feedback!
