Holiday weight gain

So I go on holiday and put on weight. No surprise there but I always put on way more than I think is possible I.e. 2.5kg in a week. But here is the thing. I come home and get back on track and my weight loss is also way more for the first week or so than should be possible. I.e. 1.2 kg in a week. Explanations?

Very likely water retention because of eating out on holiday so there is higher sodium. Once you get back to a regular eating schedule you can flush water and toxins very quickly. It's not usually fat or muscle0

I would agree but we were doing a lot of cooking ourselves while camping. But I guess it could be possible.0
