Vacation

So I'm heading on vacation for a week soon, I'm planning on logging daily and log my meals still. Should be able to do a morning run before everyone gets up from bed. Any ideas on eating? I'm thinking due to eating out , maybe something from the healthy menu if they have one. Or should I just try and hit a maintenance level than keep at my deficit? I know I'm going to have to hit the all you can eat breakfast once due to the family wants to LOL 8)

Enjoy yourself and worry when you get back. It's vacation.

I am doing this for health reasons, so there's no cheat days just because it's vacation for me. I aim to maintain, stay active and keep logging. Restaurant foods are higher in salt so I always go up a couple of lbs in water weight but it comes right back off.

Make the best choice of the foods you have to pick from and try to keep a few healthier snacks on hand. I usually pack protein bars, maybe oatmeal packets and individual packets of Crystal Light. I pick up some fresh fruit or other treats once there.

I also use an app called Healthy Out. You enter your dietary requirements and it gives you all the restaurants nearby that have items meeting your needs. You can then select a restaurant, select a menu item, and it tells you the nutritional breakdown. It only works for larger chain restaurants and not small mom and pop stores though.

I stayed in a hotel with "all you eat" breakfast a few months ago. I brought my own packet of instant oatmeal, and selected fresh fruit, hard boiled egg, and black coffee from the buffet. Voila, healthy breakfast. The thought of wasting calories on such items as waffles, maple syrup, whipped cream, and fatty sausages makes me cringe. (There was a time when it didn't make me cringe, and was part of the reason I got fat.)

If you want a lovely dinner, enjoy. It's easy to avoid calorie-laden selections such as cream sauces, rich soups, bread, and gobs of salad dressing. IMO, maintenance level is fine. Or sticking to your current calorie target is fine. Just a personal choice.

I prefer to focus on my vacation and not whether or not my food was made with butter or margarine.

Enjoy yourself, just don't gorge yourself. Eat until you're full, try different things, and have fun.

Anything you may put on (if you even do) will come off soon enough and all you'll have left is great memories of your vacation.
