Some progress lower body but nothing upper body

Hi
I have been lifting weights for 5 or 6 months now. I follow stronglifts 5x5, and I made great progress in my lower body. I remember squating 100lbs and being proud of me - now I warm up with 140lbs and lift 5x5 170lbs without failure plus do weighed lunges and plie squats after... My thighs got a lot thinner and show some definition. My waist got thinner - now I only have to lose those saddlebags and I will be happy!
However, my upper body... I basically haven't improved my lifts at all. My bench press went from like 30 to 50, and I still find it hard. I did get some definition in my triceps but I do not get stronger. I have to say that maybe I was already strong (at least my right side) because I have been carrying toddlers for the last 10 years. Maybe that's why I did not see any significant newbie gains?
I have been eating a 500 cal deficit (made 1400 cal plus exercise cals), and went down 30lbs to 128lbs. I upped my calories to 1550 now because I am 5lbs close to goal and want to focus on getting stronger now.
So, will my upper body catch up now that I upped my calories? Or should I have my form checked? Or is that just the way it is?!
Thank you!

Also, are you sure you're doing Stronglifts? You should be adding 2.5 lbs per workout... that would be about 15 lbs on your bench in one month, you've done about 20 in 6?
