Usually i dont have a big problem doing this, I just add together the indvidual ingredients calories and measure out my serving sizes carefully. However tonight I made a blackberry cobbler, i used fresh blackberries( I was easily able to figure out the calories in those) but the cobbler part is where i'm at a loss, I used flour, egg, butter, splenda and whole fat milk. I cant for the life of me figure out how to even estimate the amount of calories in it. So is there a trick to estimating calories in a dish where the calories are not easily figured out?

Its not as simple as looking up the calories in the ingredients because its a dough and its not like i'm eating the whole pan so its got me super confused. I mean i have considered the option of just putting it down as something crazy high like 500, or just not putting it down at all since i dont make stuff like this often, and i'm wayyy under my calories for the day, but for future things like this it would be usefull to know

I use the recipe builder here for baked goods or other things where there is a specific recipe (other than, say, a piece of grilled chicken and some roasted veggies or something). My family made brownies yesterday so I just put in the amount for the whole recipe and told the recipe builder how many servings I expected it to make and let it calculate for me. Maybe that would serve the purpose you're looking for?

Go to recipe on your settings and on that page,to the right there is a recipe calculator.
  • Oh thank you so much! That will be so useful, i wasnt even aware there was an option like that.
