Saw something on line that made me SO MAD!

Alright so I go to a basic site, MSN in this case, and I was looking at their health and fitness section and came across an artical about walking..
Diann is not mad yet...
Basicly the artical said that you need to walk 10,000 steps a day.
Wondering how many miles that was I typed in a google search.
How far is 10,000 steps.
The answer is about 5 miles... OK.
Diann is still not mad yet.
Then I wondered...
How LONG it takes to walk those 5 miles if you walked 5 miles all at once.
So again I googled:
How long does it take to walk 5 miles.
Well the answer is about an hour to an hour and 1/2
Well at least accoring to this one site that I went to.
THIS is where I saw what made me mad.
The first site that had this answer had somewhere at the side
a list of questions that people get to ask this person.
One of the questions was.
What excersizes do you do to lose weight?
I thought Gee that is a decent question and I think others might want to know that,
like all my friends at MFP.
So I clicked on this HACKS answer. You know what she SAID!
In BIG LETTERS she said.
DO NOT EVER LIFT WEIGHTS BECAUSE THAT MAKES YOU GAIN WEIGHT AND GET FAT!

I was sitting here and said out loud WHAT??!!?? :mad: :explode: :noway:
Below that she said that because muscle weighs more then fat
you do not ever want to lift weights or do crunches or anything like that.
The ONLY excercise that she thought we should do was walk.
What made me mad was that this person is telling people this and
you KNOW that there are people that do not KNOW any better that will read this
and let their muscles waste away and NEVER understand WHY they can not get ride of flab. :explode: :mad: :explode: :noway:
Does this person not understand that MUSCLE might Weigh more the FAT,
But Muscle EATS FAT FOR BREAKFAST LUNCH AND DINNER!!!!!
OK, I think I am done venting now! MAN!!! ARGH!!!!!!! :mad: :explode:

    I hope people don't honestly believe her and will go check out some other resources and get some proven answers...

    I learned long ago, that anything you read on the internet had better be verified against something off the internet.

    This person is the worst kind of 'expert'.

    ANd BTW YES you CAN lose weight by JUST walking and running.
    However you will lose MUCH faster and be healthier if you add muscle to that cardio that she wants us to ONLY do.

    AND ANOTHER THING! IT IS PROVEN that people that have muscle live LONGER and are better able to move around in old age then those that do not.
    I do not know about you all but "I" plan to be around for a LONG TIME and just because I plan to be around past `100 I STILL want to be able to Oh, I do not know....... WALK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    As the daughter of a librarian and a total research geek I COULDN'T AGREE MORE!

    I actually had a trainer who said you didn't need to do strenuous cardio to lose weight. All she ever did was the stair climber for like 10 minutes and lift weights. And no crunches or situps. She used this same exact program for every one of her clients. The scary part was that she had a degree from Purdue University in Physical Fitness.

    But she was naturally thin, so she probably didn't need to do a lot of cardio or situps to look good. Toning was all she needed. I didn't keep her as a trainer for long.
