Help, I'm new here!

Hey everyone :)

First of all, I'm so excited and happy to be a new member!
I know this may sound odd for a girl, but at home I partake in weight training exercises more so than cardio. Even though it leaves me in a sweat, I dont think this website counts it as a calorie burning exercise in my daily total...

I know it probably sounds silly, but I'm worried now that it actually doesn't count as a calorie burning exercise at all. Do you think I should be doing something instead?!

Freaking out :(

Not strange at all that you want to be strong & well-toned.
But you shouldn't do weight training more than every other day (working the same muscle group, that is).
The day off is for the muscle to heal, repair itself, and get stronger.
OTOH, you should do cardio nearly every day. It also burns more calories.

"To maintain your weight: work your way up to 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity, 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic activity, or an equivalent mix of the two each week."
(The page explains moderate & vigorous.)

Here on MFP, to get calorie credit for weightlifting go under cardio & search for "Strength training (weight lifting, weight training)".
It's not much of a credit, but it's better than nothing (which is what you get if you enter the work under "strength training"), & it's easier than trying to find every exercise.
