I appologise for a stupid question, but...

Please, know it sounds stupid, but noone I ask knows exactly how long is the trace I jogg.
Is there any CHEAP method to find it out? cars can't go there, cause it is in the little forest.

Many thanks!!!

You can sometimes do it with Google maps, even if you've gone off road. You can switch from car mode to walking mode, then just keep adding "destinations" or waypoints along your route.

You can also use a site like MapMyRun or RunKeeper to trace the route. They're fairly accurate.

    http://www.daftlogic.com/projects-google-maps-distance-calculator.htm

i use this to plan kayaking routes, running routes, walking routes, pretty much any time i want to know the distance from point a to point b that isnt traveled along roadways, and even then it will work its just using google maps directions is faster

There's this one app this lady was using to draw man parts using the route she ran, seemed to work pretty good for her.

    Without technology and apps:

Get a map of the area, even an automobile map. You library should have local maps. Topographic maps are great for forest areas, they often have popular trails marked on them.
Estimate your route and trace it.
Calculate how long it is with the scale at the bottom of the map.

If you can remember your route from looking at a satellite map, you can measure the distance by retracing the route through google maps. The new map doesn't have the feature but you can choose to use the classic version for the distance measuring tool. I used this all the time before getting a GPS watch.

I have a smart phone but I've been using mapmyrun.com to trace or plan my run for years now, and I still prefer doing it on my computer rather than using an app. It "knows" all the trails in my areas, even the small ones in the parks. I highly recommend it.

Leave a trail of bread crumbs. It's about mile per loaf. Just watch out for the birds, they will totally mess up the calibration.

You'd still have to pay for the loaf of bread! Mapmyrun is accessible on the computer and is free.
