measuring frozen food

How should frozen food be measured? Frozen, thawed, cooked? I'm assuming not frozen, but for example, if I'm making chicken, should I weigh it after it's thawed or after it's been cooked? & please don't tell me to check the bag to see if it lists 'cooked weight' or 'uncooked weight,' because not all foods have this listed :)

  • Meat and seafood absolutely weighed after thawed, and before cooked. Veggies depend on the veggie, most do not change much.

i'm trying to be as accurate as possible and this helps a bunch. thank you!
  • If you are using MFP's database to calculate the calories you will probably find that you can specify if the food is raw or cooked. So if you thaw, then weigh, then type in 'Generic - raw chicken', you should get the correct calories.

Of course, you can experiment with the database because anything you record can be deleted or amended. So just keep searching and add all the possibilities to your diary, then delete the items you decide are inappropriate or inaccurate. I do this sometimes before I have decided what to eat/cook and adjust my meals to be healthier (lower calorie).
