Herniated discs in upper back - exercises to avoid?

Quick question - I'm 38, female, and have 4 herniated discs in my upper back. This type of early degenerative disc disease stuff runs in my family, so I"m not totally surprised. Are there any exercises I should be avoiding to prevent further damage? If so, are there ways to modify? I'm thinking right now of pushups. I've been doing them against a wall instead of the floor because it feels better on the neck, but I'm wondering if even wall pushups may not be a good idea? Thanks in advance.

I would recommend that you talk to your doctor or a physical therapist to get the best answers.0
