Well here I go, yet again. I really want to lose the weight but I lack the motivation to keep going. But Now I want to keep going. So if you have any ideas, tips, or anything in the way of support and encouragement; feel free to pass them on. I really want to do this, but I am only motivated for a few days, so here's to hoping!

I'm sure you can do it! Log on EVERY day. Make friends.....tons of them! Seeing my friends comment on my stuff keeps me logging back one :smooched: Record everything, even if it's not what you're supposed to eat - accountability! You can and will do this, we're here for ya :flowerforyou:
  • When you say you really want to lose the weight but lack motivation - it makes me wonder why? I mean - if losing the weight doesn't motivate you (and it doesn't for many people) what would motivate you? Maybe sit down and make a list of what would be good about it - (FOR YOU) and what would be bad about it (FOR YOU) - not for other people. It is really YOUR own self that can tell you if losing right now is what YOU want. I believe you can do it but you just need to find motivation inside yourself.
I"m happy to try to help if you want to be friends on MFP - I'll do all I can to encourage you but I do believe the desire has to come from inside.
For me it's that I got tired of hearing myself SAY i was going to do it - and for the first couple months I wasn't really 100% motivated - I would exercise and then eat french fries. Now that I have seen some progress - that is what motivates me. But it took losing 5 lbs that proved to me I could do it and that keeps me going.
I know this is long - but I guess what I am saying is if you can find out what motivates you - then all the support on MFP will just be icing on the cake!

    Hey,

    congratulations on being here!

It's not so hard to find motivation: you only need to be motivated for one day: TODAY! ;-)
Tomorrow will be another "today", so another 1 day to be motivated.

You just need to take one step at a time, one day at a time, one meal or exercise unit at a time, and I don't think it's too hard to take one step, or one day or one meal or one workout. Everybobdy can do this.... one at a time... so can you!!

What motivates most is to either set goals, mini-goals corresponding to 1 step, 1 day, 1 lb, 1 workout, or taking a look at all the success stories. Well, that's what keeps me going, envying all those people with their before/after pictures and thinking of myself losing so much or looking that slim.

    Good luck!

    MM

Just remember everyday is a new day! If you fail off track pick yourself up and start fresh the very next day!! With all the encouraging word you recieve on here it begins to be that you almost dont want to let anyone down. Also create short goals for yourself so that you can feel a sense of accomplishments. For example I just finished a 21 day no caffeine challenge on Sat and started me a new goal of exercising everyday for 21 days! But start with maybe a seven day challenge!! You can do this!!!

Well for starters, I have been fighting depression for the last few years. It has it's ups and downs. But it does make it hard to do anything. I dont' want people to think I am a mopey person. I am very energetic and like hanging with friends, but I do lake motivation and will power. I do have to really struggle to get anything done. I do know that working out does help boost my mood, but getting the motivation to do so is hard. So I am in a catch 22, and I refuse to let it get to me!

I do like your ideas of making a list. I might try that.

I really like this idea. I did start with little goals, that I have put in my signature. But they are longer than say a 2 week or 21 day challenge. I might try this. THANKS!
