Muscle Injury/Strain... Help!

Hey fellow MFP's,

So around 4 weeks ago-ish I was doing single clean and press' at bootcamp and twisted my left arm/bicep funny. Ever since I have had pain along the belly of my bicep and find it quite difficult to carry on with my weights workout. Even pulling on the X-trainer made it tingle last night!

I know you will say I am stupid but I have not rested it really as I don't want to lose any muscle/tones mass that I have worked so hard for. I can manage a few press ups, front raises and overhead press but it soon aggravates my bicep and the pain runs through my forearm and fingers. I can not however manage lateral raises etc. The only real rest days I have is Tuesdays, Fridays and possible Sundays.

I think what I am asking is are there any stretches I can do to heal or other workouts that won't effect that muscle.

Thanks

So long as you are stimulating other muscle groups, you are not going to lose any appreciable amount of muscle mass. You usually lose mass by not being active and/or not consuming enough calories for a given extended period. I wouldn't worry. But aggravating the muscle will just prolong your out-of-commission time.

Thanks arguablysamso. I think I'm addicted to working out now that if I don't I feel bad. Especially as I am on a crappy slope of not eating 'clean' or losing weight. My own fault I know!

I'm on holiday this weekend for a week so maybe rest my muscles (do a little cardio as takign bikes) then regain my determination once back. May even get my other half to join in as he keeps buying the chocolate etc.

    Anyway thanks again.

If there is an actual injury and you continue to use that muscle you are doing more damage.

And taking a couple days off will probably not help it....typically when an injury occurs it is wise to take at least 1 week off and see how it goes after that.

Will maybe lay off the weights whilst on holiday then all next week and just cycle/swim.

Makes me feel like an actual f-athlete having an injury lol. Never used to feel aches sitting on the sofa eating pot noodles and drinking Coke.

Thinks to self ...'I've come a long way' actually  :smooched:
