Real lifting, with a barbell, on a designed program. Not some frills bs.

Sounds like you've decided on a course of action, good! :)

Now that you have your baseline, see how things go for a few weeks, and see what adjustments you need to make. That's always the best way really, and for example, if you're losing too fast/ slow, cut the calories by 250 for example (which will change your loss rate by 1/2 lb a week), and see how things go at that level, then re-evaluate and re-adjust again.

In my experience, a lot is to be gained from doing your homework at the start, so you can set a decent baseline for yourself, so then when you need to adjust something, you're tweaking things more than having to make wholesale changes.

Have faith in the nuts and bolts, like calories in- calories out, your caloric deficit, and all the other basics that are integral to weight loss, and you should have results in no time! :)

By the way, if you're looking for exercise suggestions, apparently a programme that see the lions share of your exercise come from walking, a bit from some form of resistance training, and an occasional bout of sprinting, is supposed to be quite effective for those looking to lose weight.

    Good luck :)
