Taking a break from the scale?

Has anyone done this? I feel it may be necessary for me to maintain my sanity. I recently started strength training and in the past week have seen a 4lb increase. I know it's probably water, but it's seriously making me crazy. My only concern is that I will get off track if I am not weighing myself regularly and I still have about 40lbs to lose.
Has anyone successfully taken a break from the scale? Any advice to help me stay on track without weighing?

I do this from time to time. My best advice is to only weigh yourself once or twice a month, plus take measurements at least once a month. By checking in once or twice a month, you can make sure you don't gain too much weight. Also, measurements are a good indicator if you're making progress even if the scale doesn't show any change.0
