Motivation and Staying Motivated

Hello, I am inquiring to see if anyone has any insights on my issue.(s) I started really watching what I have been doing and things again the first full week in July. I have only lost 9 lbs....but the last two days I have been on the scale I have gained 5 of that back...EEK!!! I work out daily as follows...IN the mornings I get up and go to my local gym at 5 a.m. and do strength training on 3 of the 5 days and swim the other 2 days, then in the evenings on Mon, Tues, Thurs evenings and Sat mornings I do Jazzercise. Yes, I have the occassional cheat day, but try not to overdo it. I am athletic, but overweight to say the least if that makes any sense. I have been trying very hard and I know numbers don't define who we are as individuals, but I do want to see them move on the scales. I also stay within my calorie goal, with exception of the occassional cheat day. This is when I start getting discouraged and want to give up. I am a diabetic and my blood sugar readings have IMPROVED tremendously....so that in itself is good I know. Does anyone have any ideas or advice they may could give me. Thanks ALL!

If you're that active, it may just look like you're gaining weight because you're building muscle. I had a personal trainer at one point & that's what was happening to me. Then I fell off the bandwagon & saw what bad weight gain was hah. Just watch how your body is changing, not the scale & keep it up! I definitely need to be more active like you (:

Measure your waist size. You can lose a lot of inches and not so many pounds. Try on something that you knew was too small before and see if it fits now. That happened to me once already and it made me feel a lot better. Weigh as soon as you get up in the morning and then don't weigh again after that. If you drink water in the day it could add five pounds. I too am like you. I have been on a strict diet for 25 days now and working out and I have lost 11 pounds in total (six after i joined here and five before that). I am not a diabetic, but my sugar levels were a little high and they have went back to normal also. Which, like you said, is good, but we want to see the results in how we look. Amirite? :) I have not had any other beverages except water for these 25 days. I used to drink 3 or 4 sodas a day. I didn't even think I could go all this time without having one, but I did it. Look back at when you started and pat yourself on the back for the things that you have changed and accomplished. That helps me when I am feeling impatient about losing weight. And if all else fails get a pedicure. LOL. If i do little things to pamper myself it helps me be motivated. I would have spent about about 20 bucks on coca colas before that now I can buy myself something else that will make me happy and not be bad for me. Hope this helps. I know how you feel. I wish i was losing 10 pounds a week. :)
