Hi everyone, I have been lurking for a while, and decided to introduce myself.

I am female and in my mid-40s. I am usually active and in a healthy weight range, but in the past year or so, I gained 25 pounds. For the first time, I find myself technically overweight. How did this happen? It is shocking, I know: I ate more, and exercised less. Various life stressors led to this state of affairs, I won't go into details.

So, it is time for a lifestyle adjustment to get back to my healthy habits. I've been struggling to do it on my own, feeling kind of overwhelmed and gaining/losing the same few pounds over and over again. So, here I am at MFP looking for support and accountability, and company in this journey.

I have current overweight "Before" pics, but they are honestly de-motivating for me to look at. I chose a "thin pic" of me taken a couple years ago as my profile picture, to remind myself that yes, I have been there before, I can be there again.

Feel free to friend request me, especially if you are interested in eating whole foods, lifting weights, and raising teenagers. :)

  • Hi! I can completely understand using a 'before' pic as your profile. I have one on my fridge so that I have a daily reminder of what I am looking forward to, rather than a mirror on the fridge to shame myself as I saw suggested somewhere out there on the internet. (Why anyone would do that....??) Welcome!
