I lost 5 pounds in 1 month / gained it back in 1 week?

Ok is so fustrating, i did about 1 month of non-stop exersising, and lost about 5 pounds. And i decided to take a little break to enjoy the rest of my summer before i go back to college. Took me 1 week and everything is right back, and i swear i dont eat more then 2,500 calories a day like seriously, and my bmr or whwatever u call it its 2,300/day. So i bearly had an extra 200 calories everyday which i swimmed alot so i dont know. But i havnt like went to the gym for the past 1-2 weeks and im back to 212lbs. Its so annoying i dont know what to do with myself. I will never ever lose this weight ever, i lok horrbile, im scared to even go shopping for clothes.

Are you sure your BMI is 2,300 per day? I usually only hit 2400 bmi (according to my vivofit) when I do over 7 miles of steps in a day. I generally always keep my intake under 1500 per day, and my weight loss is extremely slow (no more than one pound per week)....

Get back to what you were doing to lose and you will lose. Don't get discouraged. You can do this.

You didn't gain five pounds of fat. Water retention, sodium, normal weight fluctuations ... same basic answers that fill every one of these "gained it back" threads.

I lost 5 lbs and gained it back on one week once too... and I was so happy when I found that weight plate behind the couch (of all places!).

I gained about 5 Lbs from Sunday mornings weigh in. There's this thing called natural body weight fluctuations...you can't just take some random weigh in and call it good...you have to look at trends. Natural weight fluctuations can be a good 3-5 Lbs day to day with water retention/release, more/less waste in the system, etc.

It's pretty much impossible to put on 5 Lbs of actual fat in a week unless you were seriously hitting the all you can eat for three meals per day and then somme...even then, 5 Lbs of actual fat would be a stretch.

This is all math...basic 5th grade math...take a step back and do the math....

According to my scales i once gained 4 pounds over a weekend, now bearing in mind on average a pound is 3500 cals i would have to have eaten for those two days, my normal 2300 cals each day plus en extra 7000 cals each day, that's 18600 calories in 2 days, it didn't happen, not even close

This is the reason why i weighed myself once a month, fluctuation's happen, people who weigh themselves daily are stark raving mad, eat sensibly and exercise and it will happen for you

By the way i weighed just over 200llbs and was only averaging about 1600 cals a day on average and was exercising 4 times a week and i'm a bloke, you need to lower your calories to be honest

It's water weight, most likely. Are you weighing yourself at the same time of day? If not, that can make a difference as well. Unless you were seriously underestimating your calories or overestimated your TDEE, I don't think you gained 5 lbs in a week.

    Definitely water.
Get on keto for the next two or three days, and you'll pee it out, no sweat.
( A month to lose only 5 pounds sounds way off to me. That only takes a week to two weeks max. )
If you have 46 lbs to lose like the other poster said, you should hit your goal in 4-5 months (ish, it'll slow down a little as you get closer to your goal).
    90% diet, 10% exercise.

I'm so glad I read forum posts every chance I get. Everything you just said, I had no idea about. Really? Natural weight fluctuations? To me...it isn't "basic math"...my math teacher never taught me about natural weight fluctuations...what the heck is that? ...I so need to know more than I know about everything! grrrrrr. Thank you for yet another term that I need to write in my "what the heck is that?" notes. :)

To the OP - I am new and have no advice for you that I can back up with anything, I just had to comment on the other post. Good luck to you!

I think I say this every time a thread like this comes up. Take the number of pounds you "gained" in a day, multiply by 3500. That's how many EXTRA calories you would have to have eaten.

OP--take a day, say Sunday, and use that day to average all your weights for the week. Consider that average your "weight" for the week. Even that can be thrown off somewhat by bloating or whatever. But it should be closer than weighing daily and taking that number as law.
