...any scientifically minded types

I'm back after a long hiatus from MFP. I took some time to find myself and it has paid off greatly. I'd like to add some new friends who share similar interests. Are there any astronomers, math/science heads, climbers, philosophical or lifelong learner types who would like to accept my offer of friendship?

Sure, I guess I qualify. I enjoy a good astronomy/physics documentary just as much as an episode of "Family Guy". Feel free to send me a FR mentioning this thread.

    As for math/science...

I'm not a scientist. I'm a dancer. But, I have always loved science, studied Biology in college, and married to a physicist, so science is a part of my life.

I'm always looking for more friends. I like to consider myself pretty well educated and like science-y / math-y type things and learning in general. I'm kind of a big nerd all around, but I'm happy with that. :)

I love science - not just machines, computers, electronics, etc., etc., but the natural world and how it 'ticks'.

Oh, and if I could, I'd be a dancer too ;)

FRs welcome all round (well, er.... we are all aiming for flat, not round lol)
  • Engineer here as well. Always looking for a good conversation. Feel free to add me.

My homebrewing hobby involves a lot of science. I have to know about water chemistry, how various enzymes work, how to work with microbe cultures, learning the fermentation process, learning about the various organic compounds such as esters and phenols that give beers different flavors, etc. I'm in the process of isolating and culturing a yeast strain that I found on the blackberries that grow in my yard. From what I've tasted so far, I think I might be able to make some unique and interesting beers from it.

Edited to add, feel free to add me. That goes for others in the thread too.

I'm obsessed with palaeoanthropology and I'm quite interested in primate biology generally. My favourite primate genus is Homo (although I'm not sure what species of Homo is actually my favourite). Pan is also a pretty cool genus although I wouldn't want to socialise with them.

I'm a climber (though I can't afford it for the time being,) and have a degree in bio and will have a second in environmental science at the end of the year.
