So I have noticed that almost everyone no matter what size - activity level -- or height are allotted 1200 calories which makes no sense to me:grumble: I should not be eating the same as someone that is on the smaller side. I hope someone can explain this to me just so I understand how they figure these things out.

Oh, you are so funny. run away bride...
Okay. You are probably set at 1200 because you have chosen to lose 2 pounds a week, instead of 1.5 or 1 pound a week. If you chose 1 pound a week you would probably be set around 1500 calories a day.
Having 67 pounds to lose, you could probably go under 1200 calories a day, but not by much. it seems from all the information here, that you are best at 1200 or above, because of that "starvation mode" syndrome. We, as women, especiallly have to be careful about that, in that our metabolism tends to adjust to whatever we set our calorie intake to; conserving fat in case of pregnancies or famine! Going under 1200 a day seems to trigger that starvation mode and causes us to quit losing weight.
People who have around 10-20 pounds to lose, really shouldn't be trying to lose 2 pounds a week. The fat to lose at the end (10 lbs) is the hardest to lose, and has been there the longest, so it really can take awhile to get those last pounds off, months perhaps. Those people really should have a calorie intake of 1500 or more.

I am set to the same thing, have 50 pounds to lose. I've already lost 10, and I am staying pretty much at 1200, but then eating most of my exercise calories. I started 3 weeks ago. I've gone over a couple weekends, but got right back on track Monday morning, and it IS working. hang in there. Also, check out other people's profiles to see how much they've lost. There are a bunch of people on here that have lost over 50 pounds! It is very inspiring.0

This site will not give you any calorie goals of under 1200, if you set your goals too high, then it will adjust you to show you how much you can lose with a total of 1200 calories a day. I assume everybody wants to lose as much as they can in a healthy way and that is why you see so many set around 1200.
Mine is 1250 before exercise. I am set to lose 2lbS a week although that doesn't always happen
Hope that made sense0 -
