Correct Calorie Burn

Do you find the calorie's burned section on here correct? I know to be truly accurate I need to invest in a fitbit - but Im curious how accurate these are.

Ive found the exercise archive on here to be pretty inaccurate and its better to not track your exercise output and just pick a higher calorie goal every day

I found that it was different for different exercises. It tended to underestimate my walking calories, but I do walk quite fast. For running it was pretty good and for some of the gym exercises it was over-generous. On average though, it did me well. I did most of my weight loss just using the MFP calorie amounts. I think so long as you don't go over the top with them, like logging menial cleaning tasks and driving (!?) which someone mentioned was in the database yesterday!

However I can also tell you that there are awesome benefits to having an HRM and Fitbit. Apart from being able to maintain my weight without any bother, I find them both hugely motivating bits of kit. :flowerforyou:

There isn't going to be a universal answer to this.

There are too many variables from person to person for the burn to be accurate in that way. It will be closer for some than for others.

Inaccurate for me. I use my polar HRM. HRM totals are specific to me, and are always different than what mfp says I burned as well as being different from the treadmill/elliptical/ etc. HRM is most accurate.
